About South Lakes Services

South Lakes Services was originally known as Wipe Away Cleaning Services and was founded by Keith Dobson in 2010. Wipe Away initially specialised in window cleaning but evolved to incorporate a broader scope of services including the cleaning of schools, business premises and holiday properties.

Keith developed the business in partnership with Adrian Barker and in 2012 ‘Wipe Away’ was rebranded as South Lakes Services. The pair continued to successfully expand the holiday property business whilst diversifying into linen hire and laundry together with grounds and property maintenance. Today the business has grown to be a significant local employer servicing a portfolio of holiday properties, schools and businesses.

In 2016, South Lakes Services was acquired by Orian Solutions Limited which recognised the potential of the business and provided the support necessary for the next stage of growth. Orian, a Carlisle based company, specialises in the provision of cleaning, catering and safety solutions throughout the North West and North East. Shortly, after acquiring South Lakes Services, Orian acquired another business, VS Cleaning based in Wigton. VS Cleaning has since been re-branded as North Lakes Services (NLS), offering many of the same services as SLS to holiday lets and commercial properties throughout the North Lakes region. Both businesses are now growing strongly and NLS already has a significant number of Holiday properties in its customer portfolio as well as a number of local businesses.

Our aim is to continue to grow each part of SLS and NLS in a balanced and sustainable fashion, offering high quality services for our customers and flexible jobs for our staff that complement their lifestyles and requirements. There remains significant potential to grow within Cumbria and also to replicate the business model in other locations.

I am pleased to recommend South Lakes Services who have been cleaning two of our properties in the Lake District that we have as holiday lets.  We have been using SLS since 2016 to carry out our cleaning and laundry change.  Simon, John Paul, Kayleigh and the team carry out an excellent job and always manage the task in a time for our next guests arrival.  Our guests very often make reference to how the clean the properties are on arrival and we receive positive feedback due to this service.

I have also hired them on occasion for extra jobs, such as deep cleaning after a renovation. The 24 hour, 7 day a week emergency service is also very handy when we have guests that need something attending to out of hours.

We have also used the maintenance team to help with repairs such as fixing curtain rails that have fallen down, heating that has stopped working and various over issues. They are always very friendly and will help whenever there is some sort of emergency to be sorted.
